ABOUT Me
Passionate About Teaching Swimming
Hello, my name is Irene. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and I am a mom of two. I am also a foodie and a coffee lover.

I am passionate about teaching swimming and training others to become swim instructors themselves. My first job at age 16 was as a swim instructor at a local indoor community pool, and since then, I've always gravitated toward teaching swimming. Even when I was working as an engineer or being a stay-at-home mom of two, swim instructing was something enjoyable for me to do.

My style of teaching is reflective of the way I wished I was taught when I was young, which is learning through simple progression and understanding the fundamental concepts behind every stroke technique - "Why do we have to kick this way?" or "Why do we pull this way?" or "Why do we even do this drill!?" I wished I had things explained and shown to me in a way that was effective and meaningful.

My methods employ verbal illustrations and use of questions to drive the concept home. I strategically select drills that help students effectively and naturally progress through the techniques. I encourage my students to go share what they learned with their friends or parents, inspiring them to be instructors themselves.

It brings me a lot of joy to see my students have fun, yet be motivated to learn more and improve. Please join me in continuing this journey!
